Submit a film
The online registrations for the next edition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival are closed and will open again on March 2021.
But you can still submit your films into more than 100 major festivals around the world using Shortfilmdepot.
International Competition 2021
Registration deadlines:
- July 5th 2020 for films completed in 2019 (after October 1)
- October 5th 2020 for films completed in 2020
Registration fee: free of charge
Requirements:
- Films completed after: October 1st 2019
- Maximum running time: 40 minutes
- Origin: All countries (except France)
- Festival screening format: DCP
National Competition 2021
Restricted to French films
Registration deadlines:
- July 5th 2020 for films completed in 2019 (after October 1)
- October 15th 2020 for films completed in 2020
Registration fee: free of charge
Requirements:
- Films completed after: October 1st 2019
- Maximum running time: 59 minutes
- Origin: France as main country of production
- Festival screening format: DCP
Lab Competition 2021
- No application for this competition is necessary since the films will be chosen from those submitted to two competitions above.
- The Lab Selection Committee will select the films for the Lab Competition from a pre-selection proposed by the Committees of the International and National Competition.
International Short Film Market 2021
The International Short Film Market is organized by the association Sauve qui peut le court métrage (hereafter “SQP”) alongside the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in the aim of facilitating economic activity and encouraging professional interaction in the short film sector. The International Short Film Market is a unique venue for meetings, promoting and networking.
Participation :
- The referencing of films at the International Short Film Market is free and non-competitive.
- All films submitted to the National or International Competition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, whether or not selected, will be referenced in the digital catalog of the International Short Film Market.
Conditions:
- Referencing at the International Short Film Market is only available for films who have been submitted to the National or International Competition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
Short Film Market Picks Label :
In order to highlight the films that the different official selection committees of the festival particularly appreciated, SQP reserves the right to reference and label these films under the name "Short Film Market Picks" on the different short film market medias such as its digital catalogue or video library; offering in this way better visibility for these films.
Videolibrary option
The Videolibrary option will enable attending professionals (festival programmers, distributors, TV & VOD buyers, etc.) to view the submitted film(s) at the International Short Film Market, and then through its online extension until December 31th, 2021.
Submission:
- To register a film to the International Short Film Market Videolibrary, leave the "Videolibrary option" box checked when submitting your film to the National or International Competition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival via the site shortfilmdepot.com
- For the films selected at the International, National or Lab Competition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, this option is mandatory.
Services:
- Registered films will be accessible from the Short Film Market Videolibrary and then from its online extension until December 31th, 2021 (only accessible to attending professionals* with a Pro Services subscription).
- access to viewing statistics and contact information of the professionals who viewed the film.
- a free accreditation for the director(s) and producer(s) of the film.
* In the case of force majeure or exceptional circumstances, of a cancellation by administrative ban or for reasons beyond our control, SQP reserves the right to grant access to the online videolibrary to professionals of the industry without requiring their attendance.
Viewing Copy:
- By default, the viewing copy that has been uploaded to the shortfilmdepot.com platform when you registered to the National or International Competition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival will be used.
New version of the viewing copy:
- To replace your viewing copy by a new version (final version, English subtitled version, etc.), download a new video file to the shortfilmdepot.com film card (which was initially used to register your film to the National or International Competition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival) by using the "Upload new version" button, before January 10th, 2021.
Cancellation:
- The International Short Film Market Videolibrary registration can be canceled at any time by sending a note to videolibrary@clermont-filmfest.org.

Please complete the entry form, upload your film to the platform and submit to “Festival du Court Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand”.

There is no registration for the Lab Competition since the films will be chosen from those entered into the National and International competitions.
No preview links are accepted. Only uploaded films & submissions via Shortfilmdepot are accepted.
We do not accept DVDs. Only preview files (.mp4) can be uploaded via Shortfilmdepot.
If your film is in English or in French, you do not need to subtitle the film.
If your film is not in English or in French, please subtitle it in one of these two languages.

You can submit as many films as you want.
Unfortunately no, you cannot re-submit a film that has already been submitted to the festival in the past (even if the new edit is very different from the first).
This includes films that filmmakers decided to send as works-in-progress.
Yes, you can submit a work-in-progress version of the film to our festival before the deadline. Just make sure you tick the work-in-progress section on the upload page of your Shortfilmdepot account. However, we ask you to upload the final version on the same upload page as soon as possible and let us know when it is done so our database can be updated: Tim (International Competition / t.redford@clermont-filmfest.org), Calmin (Lab Competition, c.borel@clermont-filmfest.org) or Stéphane (National Competition, s.souillat@clermont-filmfest.org).
Please also be aware that we do not accept re-submissions, so be sure you are totally satisfied with your decision of submitting a work-in-progress because you will not be able to re-submit next year.
The time limit for the International Competition is 40 minutes & 59 minutes for the National (French) Competition.
We do not accept late entries.
